Lorraine McLees was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the U.S. in 1979 with the rest of her family to join their father and eldest brother in Chicago, who had immigrated to the U.S. in the early 70’s. She had been drawing for as far back as she can remember and worked as an illustrator for a local newspaper as a senior in high school. Her interest in illustration and graphic design led her to study at the American Academy of Art while she continued working at the newspaper. She moved to Houston in 1994 to form the art department for A.D.Vision/ADV Films before pursuing comic book work full time in 1998. That same year, she was hired by then Chicago-based Bungie Software Products Corporation to work on marketing materials for the video game, Oni, and, later, Halo.
